Upfront Foods single serving, grab-and-go granola, which makes an easy healthy breakfast or healthy snack, has achieved Vegan Certification through the Vegan Awareness Foundation.

The Vegan Certification means that Upfront Foods vegan granola contains no animal products or byproducts and has not been tested on animals, said Gigi Twist, company founder. The certification permits Upfront Foods healthy granola to display the Vegan Awareness Foundation's Certified Vegan logo on the package, which allows consumers to identify easily that the granola is vegan without having to study the ingredient list, Twist said.

"That fits with our philosophy that it should be easy to find healthy breakfast and healthy snack foods, which is why our Upfront Foods kosher granola has the nutrition panel right on the front of the package," she said. "Having the nutrition panel 'up front' is how we got our name." In addition to the new Vegan Certification, Upfront Foods granolas are made with organic and natural ingredients, are kosher granolas with OK Kosher certification, and they are non-GMO granolas with non-GMO Project Verification.

Three flavors are available: Straight Up Granola is for consumers who take their grains straight with no added fruit, nuts or other embellishments while Straight Up Granola with Cranberries sets off the crunchy texture of the certified organic whole grain oats with the cranberries' sweet-tart chewiness, Twist said. Upfront Nutty Granola adds pecans and almonds. Each vegan granola contains certified organic whole grain oats sweetened with maple syrup and brown sugar along with flax seed, non-GMO canola oil, organic orange peel powder and sea salt. "Any of the granolas make an easy healthy breakfast with the addition of milk or yogurt or a healthy snack any time straight from the pouch," Twist said.

The Vegan Awareness Foundation is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit that educates the public about veganism and assists vegan-friendly businesses. Products approved to display the Certified Vegan Logo must not contain meat, fish, fowl, animal by-products, eggs or milk, must involve no animal testing, must provide supplier verification that animal products were not used to produce ingredients, and must contain no known animal-derived GMOs or genes used to manufacture ingredients or finished products, according to the organization's website.

Upfront Foods granolas are available in 1.4-ounce single serving, grab-and-go pouches.
