vento ludens have attained successful consent for a 15 MW solar energy park at Glebe Farm, near Bedford. The 27 hectare site will now be used to generate enough green energy to power the approximate equivalent of around 3,700 homes.
The project, approved at a meeting of the Bedford Borough Council planning committee on Monday June 3.
Work is due to begin on the project in October with a proposed operational start date of April 2014 and developers hope to use local contractors and labour where possible.
vento ludens Ltd will continue consulting with the local community to further discuss environmental and infrastructure enhancement measures, including the installation of bird and bat boxes and the provision of new and improved hedgerows. Broadband improvements and better street lighting were also raised during the consultation process and the developer would like to investigate these further.
